How do I add image titles to my album?

PROBLEM/QUESTION:
How do I add image titles to my album?

SOLUTION/WORK AROUND:
The Include (Captions) checkbox and popup will copy information from selected Aperture IPTC or EXIF fields into the web album. These will then be used as image titles. Most include types are self explanatory, with the exception of File Names which is the output file name -- not the original master file name. Note that PostcardViewer does not support image titles.

How many photos can each album hold?

PROBLEM/QUESTION:
How many photos can each album hold?

SOLUTION/WORK AROUND:
There are no hard limits on the number of photos per album. However, practically speaking, you should try to limit your albums to 50 photos or less (25 is better). Remember, these albums will be viewed on the web and load time is part of the viewing experience.

Other related viewing efficiency factors are image pixel size, JPEG quality and DPI. I typically limit my images to 800 pixels on the longest edge, use a JPEG quality setting of 6 and use a screen resolution DPI of 72. Higher DPI values, such as 300, don't make sense for screen output and are known to cause problems -- don't use them.

FAE crashes when I select the Export button.

PROBLEM/QUESTION:
FAE crashes when I press the Export button.

SOLUTION/WORK AROUND:
You may have entered non-valid option data. The problem is FAE tries to save this data between sessions and if it doesn't make sense -- oh well. FAE does only a minimal amount of error checking and you may be asking it to do something illegal. Here is the clean up process. First try the Reset Defaults button. This make get you back. If you still have problems, the best method is to reinitialize everything by deleting the FAE preferences from the Aperture plist file. To do this close Aperture and edit the file Library->Preferences->com.apple.Aperture.plist. Delete the all values that begin with the prefix "FAE_", save the file and then restart Aperture.

The Colorwells do not work.

PROBLEM/QUESTION:
You click on either Background Color or Line & Text Colorwell and they darken, but no color dialog comes up.

SOLUTION/WORK AROUND:
This problem first appeared with Aperture 1.5.3 and comes up occasionally. It appears in both FAE as well as other areas of Aperture. For example, a control-click on Font->Show Color pop-up menu does not always work in 1.5.3. Here is a work around. Select Edit-> Show Fonts menu (or command-T function key), select a colorwell and then just close the color panel. Now, go back and use FAE. The colorwells should work there as well... I have no idea why, but oh well, it just software.

If anyone has any information or ideas (Apple are you listening...) please send them to me so I can get this fixed.
